Inclusive Film

Disabled people are under-represented in both screen production and content. Through research and early practical application, award-winning  theatre company Hijinx, supported by  production company Triongl, will explore how screen content could be made in an authentically inclusive way for LD/A actors, and what new processes might be needed to create inclusive storytelling. The project aims to incite significant, long-lasting change by encouraging the screen industries to work more inclusively. 

There is significant under-representation of learning disabled and/or autistic people in the screen industries. Following their successful Clwstwr seed-funded research, Hijinx are continuing their project to develop a suite of products and resources to assist the screen industries in working more inclusively. With the initial focus being on casting and developing work inclusively, the next stage of the project will also look at how each element of a production, from producers to marketing, can be given the tools and confidence to work in this way, and to do so in a long-lasting, authentic way.
