Good Gate Media and Wales Interactive have launched a new trailer and brand new demo for the highly anticipated fantasy action Deathtrap Dungeon: The Golden Room.

Deathtrap Dungeon: The Golden Room was researched and developed from Good Gate Media’s Clwstwr project and will be the first interactive film based on the hugely successful Fighting Fantasy gamebook franchise established by Ian Livingstone (CBE), which sold 23 million copies worldwide.

It is an ultra-modern take on Dungeons and Dragons and other successful fantasy role-playing games and features the same real-time rendering CGI technology used on Disney’s The Mandalorian. Directed by Paul Raschid (The Complex, Five Dates, White Chamber) and starring Georgia Hirst (Five Dates, Vikings) and Marcus Fraser (Transformers: The Last Knight), the full game will be released in 2022 and the demo is now available on Steam and Xbox One.

Good Gate Media is a game development company based in Cardiff and their mission statement is to create interactive story games which allow the player to be the hero in their own movie. Their Clwstwr project focused on the research and development (R&D) of interactive storytelling and visual effects (VFX). Through mixing high-end VFX with real time computer rendering, the objective was to greatly lower production costs by building photoreal sets within a computer as opposed to using physical artefact. Clwstwr funding enabled them to test Real Time Rendering technology to help realise the film’s grand scale and ambition.

John Giwa Amu, Producer and founder of Good Gate Media said: “The funding from Clwstwr turbo-charged the development of Ian Livingstone’s Deathtrap Dungeon and has raised the bar of the interactive format. Good Gate has a beautiful test, with all the accumulated knowledge earned along the way, which we’ll use to land a significant financial partner. Our preferred publisher, Wales Interactive, once again added a visual flair to the work and helped ensure the game was viewed by over 100,000 people around the world.”
