Clwstwr supported the development of an equitable news and screen sector for Wales, one which reflected our communities both on and off-screen.

Inclusion was a core value of Clwstwr and we recognised diversity as integral to developing truly innovative and transformative ideas. We aimed to build an inclusive culture by enabling fair and equitable access to our programme, for people of all social and cultural backgrounds.

To support this work, we are built collaborations with industry, academia and communities to inspire world leading, unique, bold and inclusive lines of Research and Development (R&D).

In order to set priorities in terms of the support we offered to the sector, the expertise we worked with, and the way we communicated our work, we gathered and analysed data around the diversity of our team and funded projects. You can read more about this in our first Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Programme Monitoring Report, Spring 2021.

Our aims were to support the R&D of innovative and equitable ways of working within the screen and news sector of Wales. This involved: making our structures and processes as diverse and accessible as possible, encouraging an ecosystem of industry, academia and third sector, inspiring and establishing diverse and inclusive partnerships and collaborations and amplifing the voices of those working to improve the diversity of the media sector in Wales.

We offered a range of events and activities to connect, up-skill and inspire our funded cohort and to demystify what R&D can be for prospective new applicants.
